Tips for Absolute Beginners
Learn how to draw with our informative and positive tips for absolute beginners and retirees.
My Story
In retirement, many individuals have the opportunity to explore new passions and interests. One meaningful way to do this is through art, which fosters creativity and provides a means of self-expression and personal fulfillment. Engaging with art can lead to a rediscovery of oneself, allowing retirees to reconnect with their inner selves and find joy in both creating and appreciating various forms of artistic expression.
However, many people struggle with feelings of loneliness and uncertainty after retiring. I certainly did; I found myself aimlessly watching TV with only my dog for company, despite my excitement for this new chapter in my life. A friend suggested that I explore a hobby, which led me to consider various activities. While reading and woodworking didn’t interest me, I decided to try sketching. Despite my lack of experience—I couldn’t even draw a straight line—I bought some supplies and discovered that drawing brought a positive change to my life.
Despite the challenges, encouragement from my family helped me discover my potential and sparked my journey into painting. I’ve developed my artistic skills, and I want to help you navigate your own path. If you’re interested, I invite you to share your work so we can critique it together and enhance your drawing abilities.
