It’s about experimenting and letting your pencil guide you on a small adventure. The key is to start small; don’t jump into a big project just yet. Dive into the world of shapes and explore how light and shadow interact with your subject. Allow your creativity to flow as you experiment and discover the stunning effects these elements can create!

Let’s begin with an apple. Focus on the lines and contours, observing where the light falls and where the shadows are, and be mindful of the light direction.

Another common issue that beginners face is how they hold their pencils. You might hold it the same way you write, which can affect your drawing and detract from the essence of the lines. Remember, drawing comes from the shoulder. This advice helped me a lot when I began my journey, saving me from numerous problems while sketching. Give it a try, and you’ll notice your lines become more loose and fluid.
